Aging out… o yea and some tyra ranting.

I haven’t been to the gym either if that makes it any better… which I don’t think it does- but thought I’d throw it out there anyway.

I’m JUST breaking out of the Post-vacation numbness. lol … you know what Im talking about, where you come home and your brain is just kinda mush? You forget your routine… can’t even make a to-do list cause its just too overwhelming to think about?… Yea that’s been me.

Here and there I’ve been getting things done. Nothing too monumental.. but today Im starting to feel back in the swing Jersey living… bundling the kids up, putting the heat on and praying for spring.

So little by little I’ve been checking off things on the to-do list.

- Scheduled Princess’ Dr. appts that I had slacked on with the vacation… CHECK.

- Bought gift and visited our favoritest big-cuz’ (aka-Princess’ Godmama) for her b-day… CHECK

- Got Princess’ ears pierced… and re-pierced… CHECK, CHECK!

Today I checked off:

-Faxing over my voucher for FREE Billy Elliot Tickets courtsey of Ms. Rosie O’Donnell! … yea thats right, she’s my BFF. Ok, not really. lol

I went to see Tyra 2 wks ago and Rosie was the guest.

Rosie is awesome. Really genuine… and she gave us some really cool stuff too (which is always brownie points in my book ;) ) … like this Munny toy that she sells for charity on Etsy..

yes, I was kinda surprised that Rosie was an Etsy girl myself! .. see I told ya’ she was “cool”

Tyra on the other hand?

Girl is all business… right down to her “Guurrrllll, Im swear Im just like-chu, Guuurll” routine. She didn’t acknowledge the audience once (well except for the scripted ones)- not even between takes… Rosie made time to talk to the audience in between, even when getting her make up touched up…were we beneath Tyra?

Ty-Ty, Im sorry.. if your peeps pop on by somehow and read this.. you can add me and my 2 cousins to the list of dissapointed audience members (not that I think you really care lol) In the spirit of not being entirely negative though I will say all those ‘SHES FAT’ reports are the biggest load of BULLSH**.. she looks AWESOME.

Anyway, yea so thats my thoughts on Tyra in a nutshell.

What I really wanted to touch on though- is Rosie O’Donnell’s main reason for her appearance. She was there to promote her new Lifetime Movie “America”.

It’s about a foster kid that “ages-out” of the system.. and how these kids are basically just put out there with no one and nothing, many turning to crime, drugs, and many end up homeless!

Its REALLY sad. I thought I’d share some scary statistics :

• Every Year 18,000 Foster children “Age-out of the system”

• Nearly 50% of those children are homeless at some point after that. Many, for the rest of their lives.

• Only 30% of these kids get their GED or Graduate H.S. before they “age-out”

• 1 in 3 children that aged out of the system st ruggle with drug habits and/or mental health issues and were unable to receive the health care and support they needed.

….. Crazy right?!? You can hear Rosie talk about this issue today on Tyra 5pm est.
(yea I totally just plugged her, but I did it for Rosie and the kids– not Tyra’s ratings)

Can you imagine- being left on your own at 18 with absolutely NO one?!? 18 is considered an “adult”, but honestly at 18 did you feel like an adult?!? .. hell, Im (“hypothetically”) 28- I still don’t feel like an “adult” sometimes. lol

The movie will be eye-opening I’m sure… will you be watching?
