Hotel Guests are conviced more than just their refridgerator is running…

Prank calls. We’ve all made them.

“Is your refridgerator running?…. better go catch it” (ha-ha-HA)

but what about…

“There’s a gas leak, smash your windows immediately to air out your room”…
…. not so funny huh?

This morning while watching The Today Show I learned of a prank that is scaring hotel guests all across the country.

Usually early in the morning, the guests are woken up by an prank call that is frighteningly convincing and quite honestly I am glad I saw this piece before my trip to Blogher, cause Im sure Id freak out. Maybe not smash a window, but Id definitely have run out of my room like a crazy woman in PJs.

The Prank caller (who is an adult) calls posing as the Hotel Manager and informs the still sleep-eyed guests that there is a MAJOR gas leak, urging them to air out their rooms by trashing it.

One man who was actually a deputy was not only convinced to smash the window but to toss out his mattress to catch his children when they jump to “saftey”. Thankfully, the man did not toss the kids, but what if he had? What if in a state of panic he just did it without thinking?

I’m thinking these people need to a. be stopped and b. be punished! Perhaps by throwing them out the window— don’t worry though, we’ll be sure to have a mattress there for their saftey.

Wow… that is very scary indeed. Can you imagine if someone had jumped out, with their children, no less? Oh, my God. Horrible, what some people do for a good prank. And lots of hotel rooms have windows that open – why would someone have to break the window? Like, that seems just silly to me… but still.. scary. Blah.

This is creepy. I agree they should be punished by being thrown out the window.
