Motherproof: Simplifying Complicated Car Stuff

I’ve been home now for 3 days, yet still every time I go to post- Blogher things keep popping in my head… and I just have to share them. (Especially, when its something that is helpful to helping Mom’s simplify life in some way…. and this one totally does! )

Today’s Random Blogher post is about a super awesome site I learned about while checking out MY DREAM CAR(yea, thats right- I dont need fancy luxury cars.. I just need it to be cute with 3 accessible rows.)

When I expressed my frustration with my current Ford Explorer, Kristin from MOTHER PROOF quickly brought me for a tour of the Chevy Traverse (she offered a test drive, but test drives make me nervous.)

Any who, Kristin knew SO much about the car, that initially I thought I was talking to someone from Chevy!
But when I started my rant about my Explorer, and how I purchased it when pregnant with Princess Complicated for the 3rd row and how it’s impossible to get to that row with 2 car seats.
It started to be come clear to me that she may not be from Chevy, because she started spitting out facts about the Explorer and the Santa Fe and many other cars. No salesperson knows all the stuff she was saying.. and I just wish I had a camera, at the moment she ‘revealed’ herself as a blogger. I was shocked.
When she told me about the site she was with and how the site us dedicated to reviewing cars and car safety for moms I instantly blurted out my latest car seat issue….
Tell me if this ever happened to you–
My daughters rear facing car seat (the infant carrier one) after being in the car for a few days starts to tilt left…. its kind of scary…
Kristin told me SWIM NOODLES fix this problem!… Cut them and use them to even out the surface the car seat is sitting on…. SWIM NOODLES– GENIUS!
So when going through my biz cards from Blogher I went to visit the site– its truly EVERYTHING you ever needed to know about cars. It even has a widget on the side that helps you chose a car based on your kids ages!
Anyway– I’m not being compensated by the site- I haven’t even contacted Kristin since my tour of the Traverse. I just thought this was easily one of the most informative sites I found through Blogher and had to share.
….and that my friends is my Random Blogher Post for the day :)

that IS a great site! They are extremely informative. And of course, you know I had to go check out what they had to say about my ride and I was happy with the review! I will say that it's not that big…unless I'm just used to driving mammoth cars.
I liked that they had everything set up in stages. Thanks for the tip on this site!

  • Theta Mom

I am totally checking out that site! The EXACT same thing happened to me. At the time, I was driving a VW Passat, and not only did it move to the left, the entire car seat looked like it was crooked at an angle. We tried towels, even rolled them up and nothing worked until one of my husband's friends told him about the pool noodles. Crazy, right??? Thanks for sharing this website! :)

Im glad you liked the site!

I wanted to take this girl to the dealership with me… she knew her stuff when it came to cars and mommy stuff.

Thetamom- I thought i was the only one this ever happened to til I mentioned it to Kristin. My friends would look at me like I had 3 heads… cause ofcourse their seats were PERFECT ;) lol
