Letterman employees sleep their way to the top … maybe.

By now I’m sure you have all seen the buzz…. David Letterman took to his show last night and disclosed not only an extortion plot against him, but the fact that he has had sex with a few “Late Night” employees.

Not that it is not a shocking story, but to hear it being dissected on the morning shows kind of made it lose its shock value… and well, it started to annoy me hearing all of these non-issues were being discussed like a catty round table.

The whole “office romance” thing happens all the time. A lot of the time its hush hush.. and stays that way until it fizzles out (which a lot of the time it does). So Letterman owned up to it where many others do not- but he’s not a lone.

The real story is that Letterman is being extorted, and perhaps– PERHAPS, some employees were able to advance their careers by being Letterman’s “pet”.
I mean how pissed would you be if you saw your fellow entry level employee go from GRIP to executive producer after an office cocktail party that she and Dave slipped out of a little early?

However- The Today Show, Cathylee and Hoda, amongst many others this morning decided to have panel discussions… including “EXPERTS” chiming in, and over all kind of painting Letterman as a monster who victimized these employees he slept with. “These poor women were his employees”

CUT!!! ….Wait a minute …..

Can we take a step back from the witch hunt for just a second and realize that none of these employees have come forward saying that he has made inappropriate advances, or sexually harassed them in any way. Call me a skeptic, but I’m going to venture to say, they were ok with what happened.

OR maybe, MAYBE they was genuine interest for both parties- he has had 2 public relationships with employees, one being his current wife. Its not completely out of the question.

Now if they had some research that found out Letterman was “rewarding” these women for their “actions” by advancing them in his company, now that’s where the STORY is.

However— None of these morning shows have not even once talked about that. They’re all “These poor women”, poor women? … these women could be the office tramps- USING Dave just as much as Dave could have been using them… or could have been the intern, turned 3 figure employee for all we know. Now, if that’s being a victim, sign me up please!

(eerr…. ok, well maybe not if sleeping with David Letterman were part of the sign up…)

If — any of that is even the case, the real victims would be all the people who did not “milk the Late night cash cow” …. which at this point is a HUGE **IF**

Seriously, poor women? Come on… if I was single living in NYC and got lucky enough to be working on the David Letterman show… and he made a pass at me? YES PLEASE! Okay… please don't hate me for admitting that! Please! I'm just being honest! Those women were I'm sure quite happy and fully aware of what they were doing. It is NONE of my business. I think David is great, funny, talented and also? A terrific dad, from what I've seen and read. I'm glad he admitted this last night. Good for him. At the same time, yawn. Was anyone really surprised? These things happen ALL THE TIME…

I may be bias because I went to the same university as Dave – but you reiterated my sentiments.

If it was so scandalous, the women themselves would have came out with their affairs years ago and not some skeevy producer that doesn't even work for Letterman.

And in the interest of full disclosure – I'd totally sleep with Dave. Love him.

I am so sick of the big sex scandals in the US. Why is it so shocking that he'd have sex with some employees? If a young thing who admired him both for being famous and for just being him started flirting, who could blame him?

For that matter, I never really cared that Clinton was the recipient of oral sex from that slutty little whatsherface. Come on, seriously: who cares? Do we really think that just because they are famous they are better than the average person?

The truth? The only people who victimize women are those who make a big deal out of these things. Because we always have the power of choice. And if we choose to be slutty, well, that's on us ;-)

Besides, all women, no matter how good, have a weapon that is transmitted from generation to generation and encoded in DNA: the power of manipulation. Some take it too far, granted, while others just use it to get a new handbag or a new pair of shoes, or that dishwasher we've had our eye on – ahem! noone in particular of course ;-)
