T'was the night before Black Friday

online_fashion_shopping_illustratioT’was the night before Black Friday, also known as Thanksgiving

We sit here awake,  like zombies-not living.

The flyers were searched through & Mr Complicated didn’t care

Though he sits here besides me Googling sales here and there.

Ok. I’m done. The rhyme sounded fun for a second, but after chatting on Twitter and searching deals with the hubby, I’m exhausted… and I’m meeting my mom to do our Black Friday shopping in just 3 hours. Yea, this is not going to be pretty.

I have been awake since 11:45 (which means I ve gotten a total 2 hours sleep) for reasons unknown, and Mr.Complicated’s awake now too because – well… I honestly don’t know that either. What I do know from these sleepless hours you ask?

Black Friday Madness has arrived and the deals are AWESOME, but as we sit here, lap top to laptop- the poster children for Geeky Couples… we’re adding things to our list that we had no intention of getting before simply because they’re super cheap- kind of defeats the purpose of getting deals when you’re shelling out money for misc. things not on your list.

So far we’ve considered dual DVD players for the car head rests, picture frames, collages, and misc. board games that would surly collect dust and lose pieces faster than we could swipe our card to pay for them…  but they’re so cheap how could you pass it up?

These post turkey day sales are perfect for people who have big ticket items on the lists because thats where the big bargains are- so if you want to participate you either have buy big ticket items- just cause their cheap or do like I did and find lots of little deals that I maybe aren’t on your list, but you totally ‘need’…

Like- the 10 pairs of  $3 Pajamas that I have my heart set on getting in a few hours. Yes, my kids need pajamas.. but do they need 5 pairs each? no. Its not like they’re sleeping in newspapers now… but they’re $3!! And I know this sounds crazy, but Walmart has the softest (non shrinking) PJ’s for kids. I’m sure they sell similar ones else where but, I’ve yet to find them. So in 3 hours, I will get my latte and battle the crowds… for pajamas.

This is classic Black Friday insanity… I think I need an intervention… or sleep.

Hmm, I think I’ll try the latter first.

I searched the internet for deals on Thursday evening and as soon as the paper with all the sales ads arrived I went ripping through it. Got up at 5 and accomplished quite a bit of shopping. I think it is totally worth it! I loved your poem!
