The holiday is officially OV-ER.
No more cookies, stressing over presents or those extra 5 lbs you will gain in the matter of 2 days. — Its over…. only the dilemma of “Where do we put all this stuff??” to deal with.
Oh, and snow {if you live on the east coast with me} …. 18-24″ of it to be exact.
You would think the insane amount of toys Santa {& spoiling gift givers} gave the children would keep them occupied during this, the 1st snow day of the season, but you couldn’t be any more wrong in thinking so.
Even with us hiding a few for a later date, the excessive amount of toys has left the kids jumping from one thing to the next {without cleaning up of course}…

And it has left us opening new toy after new toy -and you *know*, what unwrapping toys is like in the year 2010… exactly… and don’t even get me started on the batteries! (Who uses D batteries any more MatchBox? … #JustSayin)
We get blisters, paper cuts, curse Santa, relatives and just about every toy manufacturer alive during this 15 minute unwrapping/set up process…. all so the kids are wooed for approx 10 minutes (if we are lucky)…. and then the cycle of “Oppey dis peas” begins again.
I wish I was kidding, and its not that they aren’t excited- or that I don’t feel completely blessed.. but,
I mean do you remember during your childhood, playing with your new holiday toys for hours…. cause I do!
*sigh*
And so, that is how we have been spending our snow day .
Our kids love us… our recycling guys? … meh- not so much.
