Taking pictures with the kids is never one we parents look forward to exactly. At least I don’t.
Sure, I love getting those perfect pictures back, sending them out, posting them to Facebook and all of that bragging jazz that comes along after the actual picture taking process is over and done with.
But the process it takes to actually get those adorable shots- is exhausting. We parents work our asses off- bribing with lollipops, making silly noises, pretending to smell farts….basically making ourselves look like asses… all to get that picture that will bring lasting memories for years (or so we hope!)
Well this year, God decided to throw me a curve ball… err … a couple-of-curveballs.
Our 1st picture appointment had to be rescheduled because our photographer’s daughter was sick. Our reschedule had to be rescheduled because our photographer was ill…
Our rescheduled, reschedule was today….
And yesterday, while driving home from my inlaws- Princess Complicated got sick, threw up, SPEWED her brains out. Seriously. It was the grossest thing ever! And to boot, she not only got it on herself, her car seat and her pillow… but she also got it on the only throw blanket we had in the car to possibly attempt to clean it all up.
DISASTER.
We stopped at a gas station, got ourselves together… cleaned up as much as we could and headed home.
Mr. Complicated was outside on the front steps- in 20 below weather- stripping our car seat down to be washed, I was on the phone with my mother telling her about princess’ spew fest-
and BOOM- CRASH- BOOM-BOOM
“Waaahhhh!!!”
The Complicated Boy fell down the stairs…. hitting the corner of his eye on every step on the way down.
Thankfully, he did not need stitches or anything serious- but it was clear that Christmas pictures for The Complicated Family- were just not meant to be.
So because I wasn’t sure a card like this would exactly spread “Holiday Cheer” -
This morning I went through my personal snap shots of our “picture dress rehearsals” and came up with this …
(Yes, I have dress rehearsal pictures- laugh if you will… but now you know why.)
