Date Night is a goal James and I try to set for ourselves at least once a month– keyword: TRY… but with sitters and such- the stars don’t always align for us to get out on the town.
We’ve recently become addicted to Shark Tank and so Friday night has become sort of our in-home date night. Nothing fancy, just watching TV, unwinding from the week together. It’s actually quite perfect for a Friday night because I don’t know about you, but for me? Mustering up the energy to go out on a Friday night is HARD.
Last week, at the Dr. Oetker’s Slice Of Romance event, hosted by my good friend Carol of NYCitymama, I discovered a new way to step up at home date night by pairing 2 of my personal favorites– pizza and wine!
I must admit I was skeptical about frozen pizza for date night, but after tasting it I have to say it is not your average frozen pizza. Dr. Oetker’s Pizza Ristorante pizzas have a thin crust and quality ingredients that give it a homemade taste.
I love the idea of picking 2 or 3 different selections (the pizzas are small) with perfectly paired wine and having a mini-taste testing with the hubby.
Below are some of the wine and pizza pairings suggested by wine expert Richard Vayda that I hope you can use as inspiration for your next at home date night!
paired with Chilean Sauvignon Blanc or Prosecco
paired with Chianti or Lambrusco
paired with Spanish Garnacha/ Tempranillo Rosé or Cotes du Rhone Rouge
paired with Oregon Pinot Noir or Italian Primitivo
paired with German Reisling or California Cabernet Souvignon
paired with Australian Shiraz or Sicilian Nero D’Avola
