Did/Do You Sing Your Children To Sleep?

I always loved the part in the movie “My Girl” where the main character, Vada recalls her mother– hair glistening in the sun, her beautiful and flowy dress blowing  in the wind and softly singing “Smile” to her in the park.

It is such a tender touching moment in the movie, and I would always think- when I have kids, I’ hope to give them those “SMILE” memories.

As a mom now, I often sing “You are my sunshine” with my kids. My daughter is my biggest fan, even though the vocal talent is much more reminiscent to my father’s off-key voice singing “Bushel and a Peck” to me, than the angelic sound of Vada’s Mom singing “Smile”… What can I say? Singing was not in our DNA.

But it’s the memory that counts right?

Recently Jennifer Hudson teamed up with Pampers to sing the most classic of Lullabies “Lullaby And Good Night” and  like anything Jennifer Hudson sings, it is beautiful.

Until listening to her singing the song, I had no idea there were more words to the song than “Lullaby and good night, little baby is sleeping” … which by the way, turns out isn’t even a line in the song {whoops!}.
