Fish Pedicure: Would you let Dr. Fish work on your feet?

The other day while watching Victorious with the kids (which by the way? Is actually a pretty good show in comparison to Yo Gabba Gabba and cartoons), I learned of a new pedicure treatment that blew my mind.

The Dr. Fish Pedicure.

Naturally, I turned to GOOGLE.

It turns out, the Garra Rufa fish (or Dr. Fish) have been used for hundreds of years to sooth the skin and work on dry skin areas. These little “therapists” come from hot springs in Turkey are said to improve your circulation, cracked heels, help relive stress, soften the skin, help treat eczema and psoriasis.

How do they do it you ask?
During a 15-20 minute pedicure session, they nibble away at your dry calloused skin leaving your feet feeling smooth as a baby’s behind – (allegedly).  The fish do not have teeth, so it is painless and from what I’ve read… it tickles – (allegedly).

I am not sure how I feel about this. While Googling to see if anyone in my area offered this new spa treatment, I learned that the fish pedicure has been banned in 10 states for various reasons including, the the inability to clean the pedicure tub between customers (eeew!).. and I am a little (read: a lot) grossed out by the thought of fish eating my dead/rough skin… but I am not going to lie, I am little intrigued on just how smooth they leave your feet.

Have you ever gotten a fish pedicure or know someone who has?
If you were sure it was 100% sanitary and infection free, would you ever let Dr. Fish work on your feet?
