Last night’s Hope for Haiti Telethon was heart breaking- did you watch?
I was ready to empty out my pockets, piggy bank and bank account after watching some of those videos, and hearing some of those stories. Though I must admit, the mood was slightly lightened when Beyonce came out sporting her best Muppet-with-bangs-in-eyes look and singing Halo (which I thought sounded ridiculous “Haiti I can see your halo? really B? you couldn’t give up the self promotion for 1 night?) Cracked me up, to be honest… but at least she showed support- right?
I feel like at every telethon, its always the same artists that come out.. Springstein, Jon Legend, Alicia Keys, Bono, Cold Play… blah blah blah…
So, for me– the performance that stood out?
Justin Timberlake performing “Hallelujah” with Matt Morris’
Matt who you ask? Uh- hello.. Mickey Mouse Club People! Yea that’s right I was a MMC freak and I’m not afraid to admit it.
First of all, “Hallelujah” makes me want to break down into tears sung by anyone who can hold a note in a paper bag— but this collaboration blew me away..not just cause it sounded amazing (and it did) but because the other day I saw Matt on a morning show and thought– Wait? THE Matt Morris?.. then got distracted like Mommy’s always do.. and forgot… and now I see this and learned JT signed Matt to his record label… AHH! it all makes sense now.
Looking at the Matt of the 90′s and the Matt of today… you can see my confusion..

Yes, I owned this album...on cassette.
The Talent that came from that one show never ceases to amaze me!
Justin Timberlake, Kerri Russel, Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, Ryan Gosling, JC Chasez… and now Matt Morris!
Is that casting guy the most sought after casting director of all time? He should be.
13 is so different now, than it was back in the 90′s isn’t it? I idolized the Kerri Russel’s, and Christina Aguilera’s who wore cool leather varsity jackets at The Happiest Place on Earth, not the Snooki’s and J-Wow’s wearing… next to nothing at the Jersey shore… ok sure, sure– us MMC tweens also had Britney Spears, but hey- every crowd has one right? She was our token Party girl lol ;)
Tony Lucca was always my favorite.

look at the hair on that boys chest!
Hailing from Michigan, he is the reason I rocked a Michigan Starter Jacket even though I knew nothing about sports… Remember Starter Jackets? ahhh where has the time gone?
In my life B.C. (before children), I use to check out Tony’s performances
in NYC, he’s a really great indy artist! (Think John Mayer– but more soulful. ) Not sure how he isn’t signed yet. Perhaps he’s next.
For now, I’ll just watch The Matt Morris craziness begin, and continue to follow Tony on Twitter. … O yea right!, like you don’t hang on to any part of your tween years, “What-ev!”
