The kids made me do it- Scouts Honor!

The day I find out Im pregnant, I make myself a check list … (no I’m not expecting! Crazy Person reading this… READ ON.. READ ON I say!)

This check list is not about interviewing pediatricians, making up my baby registry, or scheduling Lamaz classes. Although I did do all of that (ok, well except the INTERVIEWING a pediatrician thing.. what is that about anyway?!? “So, Doc- That paper up there on the wall is it real?”), my list is ALL about the foods I do not let myself eat normally… that I totally HAVE to have while gaining weight is considered acceptable. (lol)

LAST YEAR, I made up my list of my  “must have before Princess arrives” items, the  list was short and sweet:

- Checkers
- Cinnabun
- Riceball Parmagian
- Wendy’s Jalepeno Burger
- Girl Scout Samoa Cookies

THAT’S IT!.. That’s all I wanted. Doesn’t seem too much to ask for over a 9 mo. span right?

Well I managed to check them all off- except…. The Samoa Cookies .. and I was on a mission!

I asked around, I waited for a cute little girl scout to knock on my door.. I even made Mr. Complicated stop the car when I saw one little girl set up shop out side of her house!! Of course though, she only had Short Bread Cookies (um, Memo to Girl Scouts of America: I understand those are you signature cookie… but I liked them better when they were $1 less and 10 more to a box called Lora Doones)

So, needless to say I ended my pregnancy with no Samoa Cookies.

But of course as soon as I start my diet.. I got the offer I waited for for 9 months.

My dear friend Vicki… asked me if I wanted to buy any from her niece Cora (Damn it! How did I miss asking Cora for cookies LAST YEAR??) The dieter inside wanted to say “Im sorry, Im going to have to pass- Im busy getting skinny “.. but Cora is the cutest little girl and she sold the most in her troop last year.. and really, who am I to crush a little girl of her Girl Scout dreams?… “SURE! Sign me up… I’ll take 3 boxes of Samoas”

Immediately I started panicking, what was I going to do once they arrived? What could I possibly do with 3 boxes of Samoas??  I could resist them.  I’ll serve them when we have company I thought. .. and then it happened -DING DONG!

It was the adorable little girl across the street .. nervously she looks at me and immediately opens a paper and begins to read “Hi!…. My name is Isabella… I live on this street… I am a Girl Scout… I am selling Cookies… would you like to buy a box?” …. Ahhhhh look at her she’s the cutest lil’ daisy ever! How can I say no?? … but I had a little more will-power.. I held back )… I ordered JUST ONE box.(hahaha you thought I ordered the shortbread cookies I hate and wouldnt eat?.. no way!)

lol.. no didn’t end like that, but I wish it had. (I kid, I kid)

Why must these children be so cute!?!? Why? I can’t say no to them any more than I can say no to a box of Samoas sitting in my house.

What the hell am I going to do with 4 boxes of these small slivers of heaven ?? Cause I can tell you this much, we got our 1st box yesterday.. and there are 3 left… I did share many with The Complicated Boy..but still, this is clearly not a good sign.

In doing my “research” for this post, I came across some fun tid-bits of information about these little cookies that I may have been better off not knowing, but since I do.. I feel its only fair to make you aware as well…

Did you know that just 2 of those cookies have 140 calories and 7 grams of fat?.. I do, cause I just checked for you..and grabbed my 3rd one for the day while I was at it.

Did you know if 7grams of fat isn’t enough for you, you can increase that fat by making a Samoa CHEESECAKE!?!? (whhaaa???)
Click here for the recipe if you dare…

And last but not least.. and this one is TOP TOP secret…

Did you know if you ever find yourself in a miserable situation like I was in last year, without a local girl scout… you can MAKE SAMOAS yourself at home!??! OOO you can my friend.. its true… and here is that recipe (…keep it in a safe spot!)

3 Samoa little known facts about Erin

I too dreamed of Samoa's during my pregnancy.

I was top cookie seller from 1989 to 2002 in Penn Laurel Girl Scout Troop 688.

Yes that means I was a Girl Scout through my 2nd year of college. Not just any girl scout. I earned my Gold Award and moved on to be a troop leader. I eagerly await the not yet pending arrival of a daughter so I may continue corrupting the little ones with dreams of cookie selling and fire setting.

WOO HOO! Girl Scouts. ***K YEAH!

    lolz kthxbye

This was seriously funny! And loved the pics along the way.

I too am a sucker for cute little girls in Girl Scout outfits. I just ordered like 15 boxes. I always say i'll freeze them for later but wind up eating too many to count.

    Here from sits.

thanks for leaving a comment on my blog. i'm glad someone agrees with me about my life pie.

i love girl scouts cookies so thanks for the reminder. this year, i'm vowing to only eat 3 boxes, the rest will be "gifts".

This is the worst time of year for my will power - Girl Scout Cookie season! I have been known to easily eat an ENTIRE box of peanut butter patties in one sitting, only stopping myself from opening the 2nd box for fear people might think I'm a pig. And maybe I'm just getting too old, but when I sold them as a young girl scout, Samoas were called Caramel DeLites.

lol you are too funny. What a bummer though you never got your cookies during your pregnancy :(

I like the thin mints and the little girl scout that asks me lucks out because I always end up buying 4 boxes lol!

Yes, its true.. they are calling them Caramel De-lites now. ... (which is ironic, cause there is nothing lite about them)... They shall always be Samoas in my heart.

I'm sure next time Cora is selling, she'd be happy to sell to anyone who is interested... It would be a win win.. she gets her title of "biggest seller", everyone gets their GS cookie fix and we all get to feel guilty and bloated together! ha

Freezing them is a great idea that I think I may just do! .... if they make them into the kitchen

    (mwhah-haha-haha)
