My Aunt is visiting with us for a month. She is truely the best house guest ever… you hardly know she’s here. Because she is from the area, while she’s visiting she out and about going to see friends, making lunch dates in the city… etc etc… actually, we can go days without seeing her sometimes. I hate that in a way… and in another way, its not so bad cause I guess it keeps the balance.
Anyway, my Aunt… God LOVE her!… is a junk food junkie. I imagine part of her HATES staying in my house because we dont keep junk food in here… (hmmm… maybe thats why she’s out and about so much?)
I am not a health nut by any means. I am health concious, but not a NUT… I love food too much; which is why I do not keep the fatty stuff in the house. I will eat it. … so my whole family suffers through and has learned to love replacement snacks such as: watermelon, raisins, pretzels, rice cakes, gold fish and fruit snacks. The last 2 are kind of junk food-ish but I don’t like them AT ALL.. therefore they are allowed (plus they aren’t terrible for you).
I don’t have a problem with my son eating the occasional cupcake, chocolate, or chips… I just don’t want him to have it EVERY DAY as a ‘regular’ snack item. He’s never had an issue with this… until now.
We now have a house with Devil dogs (which his majesty calls “Doggie snacks”) , Ho-ho’s, chips and Cheesedoodles!
I have let him share these with my Aunt…. but now he doesnt want the good stuff anymore. He thinks Devil Dogs are his breakfast… Cheesedoodles, he thinks he should have at least a half of bag a day… its just INSANE.
Are you a health freak with your kids snacks? have you ever had the problem of others influencing your kids snacks? How did you handle it?
