Last week while attending the Style School event (hosted by Classy Mommy and Mommies With Style), I won a $100 giftcard to Lands End!
I was ecstatic! When I got home I shared the news with Mr.Complicated, and he was excited too- but I knew he would have a much different idea of how we would be spending these 100 beans.
So I challenged him. Just for fun.
We could both came up with wish lists for the $100 gift card and who ever came up with the best use of the money- gets to spend it on those items.
I think you will see clearly who spent the $100 better, he made this win so easy.
HIS LIST:
Item 1: The Men’s Pima Polo Shirt
There’s a running joke in the family, when picking out a gift for Mr.Complicated- “When in doubt, just buy stripes”… Now I get that mens pattern choices are limited- but he has 626 striped shirts in his closet as we speak.
Item 2: Men’s Washed Twilled Cargo Pants
Yes, he has a zillion of these too but I’ll give it to him- he could always use another pair. Fine.
Item 3: Men’s Taylor Suede Penny Moc Shoes
Penny Loafers? Really? Not that there is anything wrong with men’s penny loafers, but I know my husband- he’s never put on a loafer and he would just never EVER wear these… and he is potentially spending $40 on them.
He saved $1.52 on the card- but you know you always forget about those small increments left on gift cards… which is why I say SPEND IT.
HER LIST.
When perusing the Lands End website, keeping in mind we we’re really trying to stay within the $100 gift card- I tired to think logically. What does this FAMILY need? And being late August, back to school shopping was top on my mind. Granted I didn’t piece together a full outfit as my hubby did, however I did find things that BOTH kids could use.
I don’t even think I need to break out my list. I am that confident in the obvious win. But I will say this-
The weather-all shoes and Trekker Shoes for our son for school– if you combine those prices? Yea, hi! Same price as those silly loafer’s that will collect dust in his closet (Just sayin’).
And Yes, I went over budget, but “it’s for the children”…. and might I once again just say…. Loafers.
So help settle this battle will you?
Who do you think made the better use of the $100 Lands End Gift Card?
