If you have a gamer in your home, you may have heard the buzz about the all new Disney Infinity gaming platform.
Yesterday, James and Ryan had the chance to go to work for me in NYC to get the scoop on this new gamer must-have straight from the creators at the exclusive Disney Hack-a-thon –{Hello, Ultimate Boys Day!}.
In addition to the Disney Infinity creators being on on hand to answer questions and coach them through the one-of-a-kind- Toy Box Mode, there was live music by Radio Disney and actual Disney Sketch Artists sketching drawings of Disney favorites.
Always thoughtful, the boys brought home a Rapunzel sketch for Laina and a Sully sketch for me…. But for them? It was all about this original Star Wars Mickey that they are already making plans to frame and hang in the new house.
When it was their time to check out the game with Disney Infinity studio founder, John Blackburn, Ryan was boy on a mission for his mama’s blog and he took his job very seriously.
About the game
Disney Infinity integrates video gaming and figure collecting by bringing your Disney figures to life in the game, when placed on the platform’s base.
Each collectible figure allows the player to play a game based on that character’s movie, but also has the ability to unlock items, powers and themes that can be used to mix, match and create their own stories and adventures via the platform’s Toy Box Mode– because, hello? Sully helping rescue Rapunzel while wearing Buzz’s jet pack= amazing!

Disney Infinity allows players to both experience original adventures in some of their favorite Disney and Pixar worlds and to build their own worlds using the power of their imagination.
Throughout each story-driven experience, called a “Play Set,” players will solve challenging puzzles, battle enemies and explore iconic locations from famous Disney properties, while collecting unique characters, vehicles, and gadgets from each world and saving them to a virtual “Toy Box.” Players can access their “Toy Box” and build and customize their own unique virtual world using their favorite characters, vehicles, settings and accessories. Disney Infinity allows players the opportunity to share these unique creations in the “Toy Box” mode with friends both online and off.
Ryan described the game as Skylanders (the collectable game pieces), meets Minecraft (building your own world), meets Disney and he is already obsessed.
His favorite feature? The Power Discs which can be purchased and used to improve your Disney Infinity game play by granting your character special powers, gadgets, vehicles and themes (i.e.. Jack Sparrow can use Fix It Felix’s Hammer to fix something in the game).
