If your child is a Sprout fan, you have probably seen the promotions for their new series, Astroblast! and are wondering what it is all about. Will your kids love it as much as they love the rest of The Goodnight Show?
This month, Complicated Mama guest contributor, Kate and her son SJ headed to The Sugar Factory, NYC to get the scoop.
Show Synopsis:
Produced by Scholastic Media, and based on the Scholastic book, Astroblast! takes preschoolers and their parents on hilarious adventures through outer space.
Run by a cast of animal characters including Comet, Halley, Sputnik, Radar, Jet and Sal the Octopus, the Astroblast! Space Station is the coolest hangout in the galaxy. Through the crew’s friendship, the series imparts important messages about how to embrace differences, model positive relationships and foster healthy habits to be the best good-will ambassadors in the universe.
When developing new shows, Sprout looks at the family unit because they feel that it is important that the shows on Sprout are able to be watched by parent and child together. As a mom, it is nice to know there is television programming out there that thinks family-first.
It is this whole-some family feel that we love and keeps us welcoming Nina and Star into our living room for “The Good Night Show”, week after week. During the luncheon, we met Michele Lepere (Nina) and it was so nice to see that she is just as kind and caring as her character. When my son saw her, he couldn’t help but plant a big kiss on her!
Clearly, he felt like she was family.
Our thoughts on AstroBlast! :
My little guy loved watching the clips we were shown. The show is set in space on the Frosty Star space cafe where the characters love serving up healthy smoothies- which I thought was great messaging! It was also interesting to see how unlike many other kids shows, The Astroblast! characters have no super powers, they are just sociable characters that want to learn and have fun. They show and its characters stress that working together gets the job done. These are some of the values I want my son to know are important.

Astroblast! premieres Saturday, July 12,2014 1:00 PM EST during an extended “Sunny Side Up Show” and again at 8:00PM EST during “The Good Night Show” and will be shown seven days a week at this time.
