Today is my 28th birthday! Officially, my “Late 20’s”. I’m not afraid to say it (although I do think I’d be ok with counting backwards from here).
My mom agreed to watch the kids over night– truly the BEST birthday gift ever!
So James and I made plans to head to one of our favorites, The Melting Pot to celebrate both my birthday and our anniversary (coming up on Wednesday).
Photo credit: Bill RuhsamOur reservation was made in “Lovers Lane”. Neither of us know what that means exactly, but we’re sure it’s going to be very romantical, and at the very least the night would be filled great dippy food and no children interrupting our conversations. Truthfully, that last part is pretty swoon worthy in itself
So after Ryan’s “Blast Ball” game (so cute!), we packed up pajams, the princess’ aspirator– which she hates (poor thing has a cold), and we dropped the kids off at Mima’s for a sleep over.
And then we got a text message Seems though we may have remembered the aspirator, we forgot Ryan’s red pillow (a security thing he’s had since just months old). When it was time to go to sleep he threw a FIT. They tried to give him a similar pillow but he said it “wasn’t squishy enough”.
Is there anything worse than when your child loses or leaves behind their creature comfort? Sigh.
So we made the ultimate decision to pick them up. Mama didn’t raise no fool. Sleepovers are hard to secure. We didn’t want this bad experience to leave us sitter-less next time!
Oh! the complicated life (or lack thereof) of parents.
