Our garage, not utilized for cars- is filled to the brim with – well really, “what isn’t it filled with?” is a shorter list. No matter how many times we clean it out- it just continues to be our walk-in junk drawer.
Amongst the many tools, seasonal decorations, outdoor toys -which include a lawn mower and snow blower (that doesn’t work), there is a neatly packed up high chair and wooden bassinet. Over time, it is these 2 item (not the ginormous defunct snow blower) that has become the bane of my husband’s existence whenever he attempts to organize the garage.
Hubby : You need to decide what we’re doing with that baby stuff. We should call that second hand place and see if they’ll take it.
Me: Just leave it. Someone we know may want them- they’re in perfect condition.
Hubby: You mean like if someone comes over?
Me: Yes, something like that. Just leave it.
Don’t get me wrong, child number 3 is not in “the plan” per say, but neither is letting go of having a baby in the house. And as we talk about things like potty training and pre-school for our youngest- I am reminded- we now have 2 “kids”… no babies. I know what you are thinking, but trust me I am 95% 82% 87.342% sure I don’t really want another baby. Its more about just wanting the babies we already have- to be babies again.
So while I struggle with that, somehow holding on to infant gear makes it easier. Really, all packed away it takes up practically no room…. well at least not as much room as his broken snowblower.
How am I planning a 6th birthday party for our son??
How does this happen in a blink of an eye?

Where did my babies go?
Well, yesterday spring was in the air (or at least on the calendar), and my husband went on his cleaning out the garage spree-
I took a deep breath and agreed to part with the high chair– THE HIGH CHAIR.
So why is it, this morning this is what is sitting on our curb?

{sigh} … I suppose I needed to deal with reality eventually.
