This is me . James thinks I am ridiculous.
I’m not. I’m cold.
I sometimes joke that I am part bear, because when the cold weather arrives, I go into full hibernation mode. I don’t want to leave the house and I have no motivation or energy for anything.
This year I promised myself I would push through the winter blues, go to the gym, stay moving. I was wholeheartedly 110% dedicated and my plan was going along swimmingly… until this week’s deep freeze.
Every day this week, when I (reluctantly) got in the car to drop Ryan at the bus, I looked at the car’s temperature- which read 10 degrees (every morning)- and seriously wanted to cry. In fact it is entirely possible that I *did* actually cry, but my tear ducts had frozen solid.
It’s that cold, my friends.
I’ve fallen into my old hibernating ways, convincing Laina we should skip morning ballet class to stay home, snuggling under blankets and watch LalaLoopsie… on repeat.
I went 2 days without washing my hair because I didn’t want to feel cold wet hair on my neck. I’m one of those freaks of nature who besides being sensitive to cold weather, has to wash their hair every day. You don’t want to see my hair after 1 day without washing, never mind 2. This is a big deal.
By 2pm, I am running laps around the house from all the coffee I am consuming to try and stay warm. I am layering leggings beneath yoga pants, and living off Nona’s biscotti and Girlscout cookies… None of it is working and none of it is pretty.
But, trust me… it’s that cold.
And yet, I come downstairs every morning and find the thermostat down to 70 degrees. Surely, my husband is messing with me. He will argue that I’m crazy- that 70 degrees is not cold… but I’m sorry…. that thermostat lies, snow is on the way and now is not the time to conserve energy.
I win.
