Perhaps it was the short season, or attempting to juggle life with one more little person on many less hours of sleep, all while trying to dig our family out of moving boxes… but over all I felt a bit Grinchy and overwhelmed about the holiday this year.
Don’t get me wrong, I was excited for the kids and for our family traditions.
We went took our annual Christmas visit to NYC… albeit on a 70 degree day, which felt a little “un-Christmasy”, but all in all it was a great day. We checked out all of the store windows, Tiffany’s, Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, Dylan’s Candy shop, The Rockefeller Christmas Tree, and dined out as a “party of 5” for the very first time at Patsy’s.

As wonderful as moments like this were though, at the end of the day I was still haunted with thoughts of gifts that hadn’t arrived, cookies that hadn’t been baked and presents that hadn’t been wrapped.
Totally. Off. My . Game.
Of course, it all worked out as it always does and by Christmas Eve, I was ready to Fa-la-lala-la.
We got dressed up. (One of my favorite parts)

||My Look: Sheer Animal Print Top, JC Penny $19, Faux Leather Peplum Top, JC Penny $20, Red Skirt, Gap (mumble, mumble seasons ago)… Here’s a similar one available at Target for $27||

And brought home a super secret Christmas morning surprise for the kiddos…

Which by the way, I could not sleep at night waiting with anticipation to give this pup to the kids. Talk about a total Christmas Spirit 180- just add puppy. (The kids were over the moon! )
And now that Santa Claus came to town, the gifts are opened, and the cookie calories are consumed… it is FINALLY, time to relax!
Bring on the lazy pajama days filled with new toys and movie nights!
Lounge around in our PJ’s, playing with the new toys and games all day and ending the day with a movie is my family’s favorite way to unwind over Christmas Break.
Of course, with a princess loving 5 year old girl and a comedy loving 8 year old boy, picking a movie that we all agree on has gotten a bit more challenging over the years- But thankfully there are so many titles to choose from on Netflix, we were able to come up with quite a few we’d all like to watch before school’s back in session.
Our Christmas Break Netflix Checklist

|| Nightmare Before Christmas, Despicable Me, Enchanted, Willie Wonka And the Chocolate Factory, Jingle All The Way ||
After weeks of go-go-go, days like these are just what the doctor ordered.
What are some ways you unwind from the holiday?
