When I was a young 20-something, before the husband, the house and the kids, I was an avid psychic-goer.
I had found a good psychic, Cindy- (who actually did predict my husband’s name, wedding, kids … well actually, she said I’d have 3 kids… so jury’s still out on that one). Cindy seemed to be dead-on with just about everything she said. Soon almost all of my friend (guys included) were going to Cindy. Many of us would see her almost every 6 months – looking back on it, it was an obsession really– but we couldn’t help it. We had constant 20-something drama, in-love, out-of-love, first jobs etc- we had our whole life ahead of us. The world was a blank canvas and we were at-the-edge-of-our-seat excited to hear about how that canvas would fill up.
It’s been years since I’ve been to Cindy, or any psychic really. Last week my mother called me excited to have gotten her hands on the phone number of a very well known psychic in her area that is now doing “Psychic Parties”. I am familiar with this psychic, have heard amazing things about him, and yet- for some reason I felt hesitation rather than edge-of-my-seat excitement. I told my mother I wasn’t interested and she was shocked. So was I. I don’t know why. I can’t explain it.
I guess in ways I just feel like all those things I use to go to psychics to hear about, I now have. My canvas is no longer blank. Things are good… and the only things the psychic could tell me would be bad things I don’t want to hear. Maybe that’s my anxiety riddled mind speaking. Funny how time can change our perspective like that.
Over the past few days though, I’ve been rethinking my decision. Maybe I should go. Maybe I would hear great things about the kids futures, career changes. Maybe it would be different kind of fun?
I don’t know.
What are your thoughts on psychics? Do you believe? Do you go to them?
