It has been so busy around here this summer, that it has been quite a while since I stepped foot into Sephora… and I think I am officially going through withdrawals.
This morning while I was getting ready I realized how mundane and routine my make up has gotten. I’ve fallen into an all neutrals, all the time make up rut. Not that there is anything wrong with an every day neutral look, but every once in a while its nice to switch it up.
When it comes to playing with colors though I need to be very careful because my skin tone is basically… well, see through. Sure in the summer, I get a bit of a bronzed look going on- but for the most part I am so fair skinned that I can’t get too bold with the makeup choices, or I look like a 3 year old that fell into her mother’s make up bag – face first.
Using 2 of my newer purchases that I hadn’t played too much with, I came up with fun eye makeup look that was subtle enough to wear out every day but had just enough pop to get me out of the rut.

The Pallet:
| Benefit “Its complicated” on lid, $20 |
I must confess… I bought the Benefit color mostly because of its name (I’m so corny like that), but it turned out to be a great color. Just enough shimmer and every so slightly pink/peach. I use it often as a base color.
| Sephora “Indian summer” on crease, $13 | Sephora “Apple Mojito” on lash line, $13 |
The Apple Mojito and Indian Summer colors by Sephora may just be my new obession- especially the Apple Mojito!
Yves St Laurent “Shocking” mascara, $30 |
I like to give other mascaras a fair chance, so once in a while I cheat on my Givenchy. This one was ok, but I’m still bias. I think its Givenchy’s round mascara wand that simply cannot be beat.
Here are a few other color pallets with a pop of color that I’m eyeing up for my next (long over due) beauty purchase…
