We all have our favorite trends and styles that we cannot get enough of– I have one friend OBSESSED with polka-dots, another who simply cannot say no to nautical.
When I shop with these friends of mine, I am always preaching to step away from the norm because no one wants to be left with a closet filled with a lot of the same– amIrite?
Well, I have a confession.
I have a monochromatic closet filled with fantastically patterned *hues* of black, white and gray that simply CALLED. MAH. NAME!
(**pssst! Corine, I go with EVERYTHING…..**)
Gahh!!! I don’t know how it happened.
So now, what’s a gal to do when her wardrobe starts to feel like a uniform?
BREAK.UP.
That’s what.

It’s not you, timeless + chic threads I love so dear… it’s me.
Ok, ok … we don’t need to abandon our favorites all together; after all we are talking about the majority of our wardrobe.
Starting over would be insanely expensive and dammit we love what we LOVE.
If loving monochrome is wrong… I don’t want to be right.
We just need to stop being so obvious about our crush and find ways make it look different.
Seek out a few unique pops of color or patterns that are buried in your closet– and try to find a way to integrate them into your style obsession.

This soft-pink ruffly top is from Forever21… like 2 seasons ago. And even though I haven’t worn it in a crazy-long-time– that defies all rules of the famous “keep or toss” wardrobe edit– I have a hard time letting go of lacey ruffles.
I just do.
I’m not a fan of any hard and fast rules. Not with dieting, not with parenting, and definitely not with my clothes. I believe in balance and exceptions. And you see? In this case– totally justified!

Do you have a style-addiction?
If so, this week I am challenging you to BREAK. IT. UP.
Mix and match your crushes with something totally unexpected– perhaps something you’ve been hoarding away in your closet for a few seasons like my pink ruffly number?
You can do it!
