Sometimes Facebook makes for the best blog fodder.
Today between my bon-bons and Oprah re-runs, I checked in to see what was new on Facebook, when I came across a status message of an old co-worker of mine , expressing her frustration with the great debate between work-at-home Moms and Stay-at Home Moms (as she is a Mom to be planning or returning to work)….
The debate is one that I’m not sure will ever be settled, and I fall into the in-between category of a work-at-home-mom. Parenting is hard. PERIOD. Whether your job is in the home, out side of the home or if your job *is* the home- it’s tough.

As a mother who has struggled finding the right choice for me and my family (SAHM, WAHM or Working Mom)- I WAS FURIOUS.
I don’t like stirring up controversy on other people’s Facebook pages, but I knew someone else would speak up… and within minutes, someone did.
And of course Dale had a rebuttal-
Dude. Woah.
1st of all- who lives like “The Real Housewives” besides- the “Real” housewives?? 2nd of all “repercussions of a life choice” “fault”?
I don’t know about “repercussions” or “fault” but life as you know it changes when you have kids- its true. Your marriage, your sleep pattern, your career- expecting it doesn’t make it easier, and neither does a Range Rover.
I must admit there are times (after breaking up 10 screaming matches between siblings) that my husbands job seems like a sweet gig- working uninterrupted, enjoying a peaceful, quiet commute to and from the office- sounds like a cake walk to me!
But the truth is that on the other side of the coin, he doesn’t have the flexibility that I do to make it to school when the kids need someone there, he walks almost 2 miles to and from his office to the bus- in the rain, sleet and snow and most nights he gets home just in time to have dinner and see the kids off to bed. Which is exactly what a working Mom does.
Really, neither path is easier- or harder.
So how does the Annie Anybody/ Delusional Dale scenario end?
Forget “like”– where is the relieved button?
How did you make the choice to either stay at home, work at home or work out of home?
